Hello All!
I am Dorothy Keiper! For the most part I just go by Dorothy however some people call me Dot. I am from Ohio! More specifically, this little town called Napoleon. I live with my amazing family consisting of my mom and dad and two younger sisters, Izzy (16) and Anne (14). My family is so important to me and am so fortunate to have such a close relationship with them. Also in our family is our dog, Abby and my cat, Mr. FluffyPants. We also have chickens and a turkey, Matilda…. They’re all disgusting but I love their eggs. JI’m about three hours north of Columbus and two hours west of Cleveland. I am eighteen years old and just graduated from high school. I am enrolled for the spring semester at Roosevelt University in Chicago (following in my dads footsteps) majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management. I love the east coast like the Carolina’s and going up north as far as Delaware and Maryland. With my degree I want to manage a resort somewhere on the east coast.
I adore the beach! It is my favorite place in the world. I am actually leaving in an hour to go live with my aunt and uncle in Bethany Beach, Delaware for the summer! It is actually right next to Ocean City, Maryland. My aunt and uncle own a seafood carry-out restaurant that I work at. I will be there until August 25th, returning home for a few days before our Kenya trip starts! JAlong with my love of the beach I enjoy simple things. I love nature and everything in it that was so beautifully created by our Lord. I love adventure and am a huge coffee drinker!
Throughout High School I played a handful of different sports… Soccer, Basketball, Swimming, and Softball. Soccer is the sport I will miss the most! Thinking about my future after high school and going through a lot of family turmoil led me to really rethink what I wanted to do. I had always planned on going to school right after high school and getting away from this town. I did a lot of praying and talking with my family and youth pastor. God put a passion in me to help people and patience for kids. I have always wanted to go to another country and shine his light. During my time of “limbo” a missionary came into our church and that is when I really felt God call me to a mission. I found this wonderful organization and could not be more thrilled that God has called me to Kenya!
I love meeting and working with new people! It is going to be amazing to work with people that have all been called by God to work together and do something like this. A lot of us get caught up in our own problems and failures without regard to the big picture. We weren’t created to focus on our failures and insecurities but we were created to have a growing and living relationship with Jesus Christ and to bring others to have a relationship with him as well. The fact that we are all taking that giant step to do that I so humbling. I cannot wait to meet you all and will be praying for you as we are all anxiously awaiting this amazing trip to Kenya!
Dorothy.. Dot... :)
